Bluegrass in the Schools Mini-Grant Application Form
NOTE: Mini-grant funds for the current fiscal year have been allotted. Please apply after July 1, 2009, when new matching funds will be available. Thanks to schools, associations and bands who presented educational bluegrass programs for students during the past year in Kentucky, Tennessee, Connecticut, New York, Colorado, Louisiana, Georgia and Scotland.
This application may be submitted for supplemental matching funding requests of up to $200 for educational in-school programs that present bluegrass music.
While the Foundation for Bluegrass Music appreciates all forms of music related to bluegrass, including mountain music, old-time, early country, Cajun, blues and a host of other styles which influenced the development of bluegrass music, we must give priority to funding presentations with a central focus on bluegrass music. Live ensemble demonstrations are encouraged, along with a brief overview of the history and pioneers of bluegrass music, the instruments used and their role in a band, the vocal harmony structure used in bluegrass music and bluegrass music today.
In the “Brief Description of Presentation” field below, we’re looking for 75-150 words describing the program to be presented including major points it will cover and what instruments will be demonstrated.
Bluegrass in the Schools Mini-Grants from the Foundation for Bluegrass Music are made possible in part by a grant from The D'Addario Foundation for the Performing Arts with support from J. D'Addario & Company, Inc. and D'Addario Strings. _________________________________________________________
