International Bluegrass IBMA's newsletter subscription available to all members on a bi-monthly basis in print and sent monthly via email. Newsletter details information of interest to professionals keeping up with bluegrass music industry news, as well as fans who enjoy keeping in touch.
Ticket Privileges to IBMA Events The World of Bluegrass Business Conference, International Bluegrass Music Awards and Bluegrass Fan Fest. Held annually each fall, as a member you have priority access to tickets and qualify for special member discounts.
Voting Privileges Professional IBMA members receive the privilege of voting in the ballot processes to determine IBMA Board Leadership and the recipients of the International Bluegrass Music Awards.
Access to IBMA-L Members may opt to sign up on the member email list-serve. Stay connected in real time with other members, current news, special announcements and more. Contact Nancy at nancyc@ibma.org to get signed on.
Networking It's the biggest reason to consider joining IBMA - to interact with your peers. Educational Programs
Bluegrass In The Schools A program focused on our youth and getting bluegrass taught in the classroom. This program encompasses many outlets and resources including the Discover Bluegrass DVD, classroom lesson plans, teacher workshops, lesson plan competitions, grants for in-school programs and more. Education Sessions at the Business Conference The Business Conference is packed full of educational opportunities, regardless of your focus or interest in the industry. Seminars on multiple current topics, Mentor Sessions, Gig Fair, Keynote Address and just meeting face to face with your peers - they are all invaluable! If you can't make it to the Business Conferenence - many of these educational seminars are still available to you on CD or tape. Call the office to inquire.
Leadership Bluegrass An intensive 3-day education and leadership event that brings approx. 20 class members, from all aspects of the industry, together to discuss the state of our industry, opportunities, threats, strengths and weaknesses. Professional development, networking opportunities and a number of in-depth, interactive presentations that will widen perspectives and encourage the participation of the entire class. Teacher Workshops Held in a growing number of locations and usually in conjunction with major festivals, are designed to introduce bluegrass music to the classroom and music teachers. Educating them with practical ideas for lesson plans that meet arts & humanities core content criteria. Certificates for professional development credit are issued to participants. IBMA hosts a free, annual teacher workshop in Nashville, TN during Bluegrass Fan Fest as well as assist other festivals and organizations get started with such offerings in their area. Simmons Market Research Our annual subscription to Simmons Market Research offers us unlimited information on the people who buy and like bluegrass music, their buying preferences, the demographic information and more! A basic demographic package is always available to members but specific information can be tailored to your needs. This is a valuable tool to find out who your audience is, find potential sponsors, best markets and more.
Bluegrass Directory (Resource Guide) An resource of contacts for individuals, companies and organizations in the bluegrass world. Organized with a “phone book” approach, the annually printed directory is a useful desk reference throughout the year or use the on-line version for a searchable database at your fingertips.
Information Services IBMA maintains a number of databases that are useful to you to promote what you are doing! Artists looking for radio stations or event producers; Event Producers looking to promote their event; Record Companies looking to reach out to fans about a new release….unlimited possibilities!
Data is maintained on a daily basis as changes and new information is obtained. Lists are also audited every 16-24 months for the integrity of the listing. IBMA also depends on you to provide updates and keep information as current as possible.
Data can be received electronically, pre-printed on mailing labels or in printed list form. All files requested electronically come in Microsoft Excel format. If ordering this version, you should be familiar with converting to other programs. Cost for these services will vary according to your member type and how you prefer to receive the data. - IBMA Member Directory: Includes only members that have given permission to share their information. Approx. 2000 contacts
- Bluegrass Artist List: Includes over 1000 bluegrass artists and groups.
- Event Producers List: Lists promoters that book bluegrass talent for festivals and venues.
- Radio List: Contains over 400 stations that program bluegrass. Additions to this list are separate files for Bluegrass Unlimited reporting stations and syndicated programs.
- Press List: Contains more than 400 media outlets both within and outside the bluegrass industry, including magazines, newspapers, writers and selected television shows.
- Bluegrass Associations List: Includes contact info for more than 200 bluegrass and bluegrass-related organizations and clubs, world-wide.
- Record Companies List: A roster of Bluegrass Record Companies active in producing/issuing bluegrass, old time, and traditional recordings.
- General Mail List: Includes current contact information for more than 10,000 folks with a verified interest in bluegrass.

Showcase Opportunities The talented artists found in our industry keep growing and are a big part of our annual week-long conference each fall. Artist showcases that spotlight emerging groups, new personnel and new recordings, as well as songwriter showcases. The Bluegrass Trust Fund Fund for individuals within the bluegrass community in emergency need. Funded in part by the generosity of the artists who perform at Fan Fest. Since it’s inception, the Trust has disbursed more than $200,000 to dozens of bluegrass professionals and their families.
The Foundation for Bluegrass Music A NEW non-profit charitable organization has been created to serve as an “umbrella” under which funds can be placed and disbursed to specifically support educational, literary and artistic activities of public benefit. All gifts are tax deductible as a charitable donation. Contact IBMA for more information.
